About Cheyne Atelier
Gemma Cheyne. Artist, and the founder behind Cheyne Atelier.
I'm based in a little seaside town, Lytham St Annes, in the north of England, and I paint pet portraits in watercolour to commission. Each portrait is painted by hand from your photographs, a piece of art made entirely for you. I work exclusively with Schmincke Horadam professional watercolours - crafted in Germany since 1881 using the highest quality pigments, chosen for their exceptional lightfastness. Lightfast means the colours are built to resist fading over time, so the painting remains as vibrant as the day it was made — for generations, even up to a hundred years and beyond.
Alongside commissions, I'm developing two collections of original artwork: an ink drawing series and a body of oil paintings. New work will be released by auction here on the site. If you'd like to hear about upcoming pieces first, you can join the mailing list below.
I'm inspired by the small, beautiful details - antique markets and museum cabinets, the tiles on a Portuguese wall, a mosaic caught in the right light. And dogs, always dogs. My two dachshunds Daisy and Daphne were the root of my "why".
